Enclosed-space entry into cargo tanks requires more than a checklist. Residues, poor ventilation and unstable vapour levels are common failure points.
Practical controls
- Remove heavy residues that keep generating vapour (demucking)
- Ventilate continuously as required by the permit
- Test oxygen, flammables and toxics at multiple heights
- Re-test after breaks or process changes
